Jinan Third People's Hospital Uses ECMO To Save Cardiac Arrest Patient At The Brink Of Death
A female patient suffered sudden chest pain and lost consciousness while receiving treatment at another hospital, placing her life in critical danger. Upon receiving the emergency call, the Emergency Medicine Department of Jinan Third People's Hospital quickly activated its chest pain rescue protocol and dispatched a professional team to the scene.
During transport, the 120 emergency team performed high-quality CPR and defibrillation while closely coordinating with the hospital's Chest Pain Center. Their swift actions secured precious time for life-saving treatment.

After reviewing the patient's electrocardiogram and condition summary, the Director of the Cardiology Diagnosis and Treatment Center led the interventional team into action. They initiated IABP therapy to stabilize the patient, but due to extensive myocardial infarction, severe ventricular fibrillation, and refractory cardiogenic shock, her condition remained critical.

Thanks to ongoing assessments and adjustments, the patient's condition gradually improved. Five days later, ECMO support was removed, followed by the smooth removal of the endotracheal tube and IABP catheter. The patient recovered from her life-threatening condition, regaining the ability to move independently and communicate normally. Recently, she was transferred to Cardiovascular Medicine Ward 1 for further rehabilitation.
